Palliative care, although still a relatively new field across medicine and other healthand social care disciplines, is critical for humane end-of-life experiences, whether fora young mother dying of breast cancer, an intellectually disabled adult grappling withbereavement, an elder facing pending death, or the formal and informal care providersand organizations working with such patients and their families.
